Morning Exercises

Wake up at 6 AM.

Get your teenage kids awake too.

Head out to the ranch, wearing long pants, boots, a long-sleeve shirt, and of course a decent hat. Gloves are also necessary.

Grab a handsaw, and saw a branch hanging over a fence about 3″ in diameter. Make sure to stand near the barbed wire but don’t touch it. Alternate 20 strokes with each hand until the branch starts to pinch the blade. Then use your other hand to hold the branch up while completing the cut.

Pull the branch over the fence, breaking whatever vines have gotten tangled up in it.

Repeat 5 times.

Next, use the handsaw to cut saplings 2′ away from the fence in an awkward crouching position. Be sure to reach under the barbed wire and avoid getting cut. Alternate hands after 20 strokes. Again, push the sapling to the side so that the blade doesn’t pinch.

Finish by putting insulator clips on the T-posts that are now clear, attaching the high-tensile wire.

Only 1/2 a mile left to clear!
