Monday 11/11
One of the cows, who I name Patches, keeps crossing the lane wires. It’s getting to be a problem.
Tuesday 11/12
The grass in the cattle rows is super-thick bermudagrass, especially in the western end.
Wednesday 11/13
I’ve been experimenting with these fiberglass temporary posts and I like them a lot. They are sturdier than the plastic step-in posts and they can be adjusted to any height. They can also take a beating from a hammer.
The sheep are now with the cows. They were trepidatious but eventually settled in. I need to do double wires or the sheep just wander off, though.
Thursday 11/14
I trimmed one of the ewes with super long hooves. It took a while to catch her but I did. Unfortunately I trimmed one of the hooves too much, or it tore while I was doing it. There was a little blood involved.
Friday 11/15
I setup a double wire for the cross-wire, and it seems to work.
Saturday 11/16
Another new row of super-dense grass.
Sunday 11/17
I’m expecting lambs next week! Cross your fingers!
